Save yourself the time....
Sprinkling salt on your soil and around the edge of your plants doesn't work. Not only is this an ineffective solution for slug control, but it can be very damaging to your garden plants. Not a very good option.
Slug Baits can be highly ineffective because the slugs have to actually eat the bait in order for for it to kill them. Besides, there is still the option that they will eat your plants instead. Even worse, some slug baits will simply attract more slugs to your garden and worsen the problem.
Forget about using poisons such as the commonly recommended metaldehyde slug bait. It doesn't solve the problem of why you have garden slugs in the first place and it can be very harmful to animals such as dogs, cats, and squirrels.
Don't waste your time by simply hunting them either. Many websites will recommend hunting them down with a mixture of water and ammonia, but what they don't tell you is that it could take up to two years for this "solution" to have any measurable effect on your slug problem.
Although you may be able to eventually reduce the number of slugs you have, it won't solve the problem of why you have them in the first place, so slugs will just keep coming back again and again.

Trial and Error. Unless you get extremely lucky, this is not a great option. So much of the advice available out there can either damage other parts of your plants or soil, or it flat out doesn't work! Even if you eventually stumble upon a solution that has some positive effects you would have wasted a lot of time getting that far. How many dozens of hours are you prepared to waste on trial and error?
Use Slug Baits or Chemicals. Whether ordering online or buying something from a local shop, this option isn't very appealing either. First of all, the only thing that you can accomplish with traps and chemicals is KILLING INDIVIDUAL slugs. This is NOT going to solve the problem of why you have slugs in your garden! They will keep coming back.
Besides, wouldn't you rather enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing you haven't put any animals at risk with your attempted slug control solution?

Good question. I mentioned earlier that I've witnessed the nightmare of a bed bug infestation . . . when my daughter and her children lived through it.

(UGLY) Unfortunately, there are a "few" unscrupulous hucksters who are taking advantage of people's fear and panic by offering hyped-up products and services that turn out to be ineffective or sub-standard.
